GIBBI Carsharing Pivoted
In this article, I write about that I pivoted my business idea GIBBI Carsharing.
In the beginning of the year, I decided to apply to YC Spring 2025 Batch with my business idea GIBBI CarSharing (7th time), where I want to create a Peer to Peer Car Rental Company that can Connect People that have an extra car and want to earn extra money renting their car to People that need to rent a car to use it in the city (businesses, holydays, etc),
I know that it’s very difficult to enter to any YC Batch because GIBBI CarSharing isn’t an AI company nor I have the enough experience to lead a Startup but I like to the challenge to do it, and in the end the most important isn’t to enter to YC but to make that this business idea can become a startup, can get customers and generate enough revenues to live,
So since last November, I started to work and make that this idea can become a reality and become a startup, where since last September I started to find out my Co-Founder that will become my Chief Technology Office (CTO), where it looks like that that I found him on December, where in this moment we’re working in this project but until this moment we’ve not signed NDA nor Founder’s Agreement because some legal issues that we have (I’m from México and He’s from US and we’re seeing how to make a partnership),
Another activies that I’ve been doing is to create my product, where with the help of CoDev (low code app) I created my beta app, and created two surveys (english, spanish) to show to my potential customers and see what they thing about this beta app and my business idea, and start to make meetings with family, friends and investors to raise money to this project but until this moment I’ve not raised any money yet,
So now that I have the data after have talked with my potential customers, some former business friends and my potential CTO, they told me that a better way to make that this business idea can become a startup and start to work it would be to “pivot” the business idea from a Peer to Peer Company (or Customer to Customer) to a Business to Customer Company,
So based in the information I got, my CTO and I decided to pivot GIBBI CarSharing to a Business to Customer Services, where We want to connect Car Rental Companies that need to rent their Cars to Drivers of Driving Platforms (Uber, Didi, Lift, etc) that need to rent a car to work in driving platforms, where GIBBI Carsharing will be the “connector” and they will use our app to make the rent of the car,
So now that our business idea changed, we need to start to focus in change our business plan, modify the contracts and the beta app, to again to present to our potential customers and see if they agree or not with the update,
The way how I see this new beta app it’s where the Car Rental Companies will upload the information of their cars that will be able to rent in our app, and the Drivers will upload their personal and professional information to rent a car in our app, where GIBBI Carsharing will collect a fee from Car Rental Companies for register of the company and their inventory (cars), in the moment that one of their cars is rented and a monthly fee because they have their car in my app; GIBBI Carsharing will collect a fee from Drivers for register of their information, in the moment that they rent and use a car and a monthly fee because they’re in my app,
I’m going to establish my company in México City because it’s the best way to start a startup in Latin America, because in México City are all the enough resources (money, employees, investors, life quality, etc) to start the company, also I need get another co-founder (a potential COO) and 3 or 5 employees to start to work, where I think that we can have a new beta app in less than 1 month, to get the first customers/subscribers and start to generate revenues (the most important),
Any update that I have for the project I’m going to share here with you in my blog (or any of my social platforms), and also you can give the feedback to see if this project works or not,
So let’s keep trying until I make it,
See you next article,
Gibrán.
