Thursday Night Football Game (GIBBI’s Editorial Staff)
Giants vs Cowboys, Tonight at 20:15 ET on MetLife Stadium (East Rutherford, New Jersey)
Giants: 1-2 record (bottom of NFC East)
Cowboys: 1-2 record (bottom of NFC East)
GIBBI View: Giants did the surprise and defeated Browns in Week 3 to win its first game of the season; Cowboys lost a back to back game and this is the third straight game that Dallas have been humiliated in a home game (Packers, Saints, Ravens); My Prediction: When there’s a divisional game the game becomes tougher and closer than a regular game, where Giants have the advantage to play in home and Cowboys that have a better team and talent, so I think that Cowboys win by 3+ points
Meta AI Has Nearly 500 Million User Per Mark Zuckerberg (Tech Crunch)
Mark Zuckerberg said Wednesday during Meta Connect 2024 that Meta AI is one of the most used AI assistant across the world with “almost” 500 million monthly active users
In comparison, OpenAI’s ChatGPT chatbot has more than 200 million weekly users
At the event, Meta also announced new celebrity voices and lip-synced translations to Meta AI. The company extended its genAI-powered “imagine” feature across Facebook, Instagram, and Messenger to create photos through prompts
GIBBI View: Remember that all Meta’s Subsidiaries (Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp) have integrated Meta AI by default, and users didn’t download it and also most of the time users enter to Meta AI as error/mistake not because wanted to use it, so I’d not be so optimistic about these 500 MAUs
Disney+ Launches Broad Password-Sharing Crackdown (VARIETY)
This week, Disney+ began informing subscribers that its paid-sharing options are broadly available
The Disney+ paid-sharing features and capabilities are now available in the U.S., Canada, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Europe, and the Asia-Pacific
In the U.S., an Extra Member profile will cost an additional $6.99 per month for Disney+ Basic subscriptions and $9.99 per month for Disney+ Premium subscriptions
GIBBI View: Disney+ is copying the Netflix’s strategy that worked for them, and Disney is doing this because they want to increase its revenues, this is bad because now subscribers will have to pay an extra money to add an additional member but the good news is that this option hasn’t arrived in México yet
Telemundo Taps Joaquín Duro To Lead Sports Division (The Hollywood Reporter)
The Spanish-language media company, owned by NBCUniversal, says that Joaquin Duro will become executive VP of the division, reporting to Telemundo Enterprises chairman Luis Fernandez
In his new role Duro will oversee all Telemundo Deportes programming, including acquisitions and live event production. Telemundo’s sports rights include the FIFA World Cup, the Olympics, the NFL, and global soccer
Duro was most recently senior VP of AVOD Streaming and Digital for Telemundo Enterprises, and previously worked at Univision
GIBBI View: Remember that last week, Daniel Alegre became CEO of TelevisaUnivision (Telemundo’s biggest rival in U.S.) were replaced Wade Davis (VicePresident), so two big movements in 2 weeks, this could be a threat or just coincidence?
Mira Murati Quits As CTO On OpenAI (Mira Murati on X)
Mira announced yesterday on X that She decided to step away to work in OpenAI as CTO for personal reasons
Mira was one of the founders of OpenAI and she lasted 6.5 years there where she was a key person to make that OpenAI becomes the best AI company in this moment
Mira didn’t say which will be her next project (work in her AI company or to be hired in another AI company) or if she’ll decide to take a sabbatical year
GIBBI View: Mira wasn’t the only c-level employee that left OpenAI yesterday, alongside her Bob McGrew (Chief Research Officer) and Barret Zoph (VP Research) decided to step away for personal decision and now Sam is the only co-founder that still works in OpenAI; yesterday was announced that OpenAI removed non-profit board control and Sam Altman received equity (around 7%), so let’s see if these 3 movements are connected to this news
