CONCACACHAMPIONS: Round of 16 - Second Leg:
Tonight at 18:30 CT on Olímpico Universitario Stadium (México City)
First Leg:
GIBBI View: Cruz Azul need to win the game for any score to qualify to quaterfinals; Seattle need to tie the game when both teams scores or win the game for any score to qualify to quaterfinals; if the game finishes tied 0-0 it’ll be played overtime; My Prediction: Cruz Azul wasted an important opporunity to score a goal or win the game in Seattle, and now Cruz Azul will have to win this game to qualify next round, so I think that Lakers win by 1 goal difference
Lakers Lost Against Nets (GIBBI)
Lakers visited Brooklyn and lost against Nets 108-111 in its first game of the week, where Lakers lost a back to back games after a 8-games winning streak
Lakers played a pathetic game where there was a lack of effort for Lakers’ players (bad defense, bad decisions, a lot of turnovers) that translate in bad decision that led the loss
With this loss, Lakers went down to 4th place on Western Conferece after the Nugget and Grizzlies victories
GIBBI View: Lakers played without 3 important players in the team (Lebron James, Rui Hachimura, Jaxson Hayes, Dorian Finney-Smith) that dominate the paint and the team “missed” them; so let’s see if several of these players can recover for the next game (against Bucks) if not team can start to losing several games and fall to play-in zone, let’s see
OpenAI Is Pouring $12B Into CoreWeave (Tech Crunch)
In a grandmaster-level chess move, OpenAI has signed a five-year, $11.9 billion agreement with the GPU-heavy cloud service provider CoreWeave, according to Reuters, which cites people close to the deal
The deal involves OpenAI receiving $350 million worth of equity in CoreWeave, the sources told Reuters. The private placement is said to be separate from CoreWeave’s planned IPO
CoreWeave began its life as a crypto mining operation, founded by former hedge fund guys, it said. The three co-founders have already cashed out of $488 million worth of shares — over $150 million apiece. CoreWeave also has a stunning $7.9 billion of debt on the books
GIBBI View: Well, it looks like that OpenAI declared the “war” to Microsoft with this movement, because I don’t understand this deal; I think that the OpenAI-Microsoft partnersghip is almost “over” it wouldn’t be a surprise if Microsoft decides to invest or work alongside xAI (Elon Musk’s AI company and the man that is “hunting Sam and OpenAI)
Asana CEO Dustin Moskovitz Announces Retirement (CNBC)
Dustin Moskovitz, the CEO of Asana and one of the original founders of Facebook, is retiring from the software company he started in 2008
Asana announced Moskovitz’s upcoming departure on Monday as part of the company’s fiscal fourth-quarter earnings report, and its board has retained an executive search firm to help choose a new CEO
Moskovitz owns about 53% of the company’s outstanding shares, between his Class A and Class B holdings. He has substantially increased his ownership since the company’s public market debut in 2020
GIBBI View: I used the Asana app when I worked as Business Consultant to manage my projects, it helped me a lot ot have a control of my projects and presented to the owner/director of the company
