América vs Cruz Azul (GIBBI’s Editorial Staff)
Tonight at 21:15 CT on Ciudad de los Deportes Stadium (México City)
América: 1st place with 30 points (9-3-2 record)
Cruz Azul: 3rd place with 28 points (8-4-2 record)
GIBBI View: Cruz Azul eliminated América on CONCACHAMPIONS - Quaterfinals this week, and this is the first time since 1999 that Cruz Azul eliminate América in a knock-out round; América had as target to win the CONCHAMPIONS, but now they’ll focus to win its fourth straigh Liga MX title; My Prediction: I think that América & Cruz Azul are the two best teams in the last 1 year, so I think that this game finishes in a tie
Founder Fund Closes $4.6 Billion Growth Fund (CNBC)
Founders Fund, the venture capital firm run by billionaire Peter Thiel, has closed a $4.6 billion late-stage venture fund, according to a Friday filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission
The fund, Founders Fund Growth III, includes capital from 270 investors, the filing said. Thiel, Napoleon Ta and Trae Stephens are the three people named as directors. A substantial amount of the capital was provided by the firm’s general partners, according to a person familiar with the matter
Thiel, best known for co-founding PayPal before putting the first outside money in Facebook and for funding defense software vendor Palantir, started Founders Fund in 2005. In addition to Palantir, the firm’s top investments include Airbnb, Stripe, Affirm and Elon Musk’s SpaceX
GIBBI View: Peter Thiel has been an important person in Silicon Valley with great investment in Facebook, Airbnb, SpaceX and other, so he and his fun know in which startups to invest; by the way, remember that I’m working in make that this blog can become a media company
Patrick Peterson To Retire As Member Of Arizona Cardinals (NFL)
The eight-time Pro Bowl cornerback will be in Arizona on Monday to retire as a member of the Cardinals, the club that selected him with the No. 5 overall pick in 2011, NFL Network Insiders Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero reported Friday
Peterson's stellar career concludes after 13 NFL seasons, beginning with ten illustrious campaigns with the Cardinals before making stops in Minnesota and Pittsburgh, where the 34-year-old spent his final year in 2023
While playoff success ultimately eluded his fantastic career, Peterson will certainly be remembered as one of the top CBs of his time, finishing with 649 tackles, 36 interceptions (two pick-sixes), 122 pass break-ups and 12 fumble recoveries
GIBBI View: He was one of the best CBs of the las 15 years, where most of the QBs tried to avoid to throw for the side he was defending, the only problem was that his last year as NFL professional player was that he played with Steelers (my favorite team), and he played in a bad football level where he looked most of the game tired and slow and made several errors that led to many losses that season
Meta Names Dina Powell McCormick & Patrick Collins To Board (The Hollywood Reporter)
The tech giant Meta Platforms Inc. continues to refresh its board of directors, naming Dina Powell McCormick and Patrick Collison as board members, effective April 15
Collison is the co-founder and CEO of the payments platform Stripe, while Powell McCormick is vice chair, president and head of global client services at the merchant bank BDT & MSD Partners
The additions of Collison and Powell McCormick to Meta’s board comes just a few months after Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced three new board members, including UFC CEO Dana White. The company has now added five new board members in just four months
GIBBI View: These new additions to Meta’s board look like a “favor” for Mark Zuckerberg to Donald Trump, because since Donald Trump won U.S. Presidential Election Mark has made some change in Meta’s companies (Facebook, Instagram, Whatsapp) to make “happy” to Trump
Spotify Invest $1M+ To Grow Its Catalog Of Non-English Audiobooks (Spotify)
Spotify announced on Friday that it plans to invest €1 million–or approximately $1.1 million — to boost audiobook production in languages other than English, beginning with French and Dutch
The investment indicates that Spotify is eager for more non-English titles in its limited library as it tries to compete with major players like Audible in the $8.7 billion global audiobooks market
According to the company, less than 3% of French-language books are currently available in audio format, with only 20,000 audiobooks in France compared to about 750,000 physical titles. In the Netherlands, around 15,000 Dutch audiobooks are available out of a physical library of 209,000 titles
GIBBI View: I think that the spanish language is a bigger and better market in audibooks than french and dutch, so maybe if they can boost these two languages later they can start in spanish; by the way, remember that I have a spotify channel, GIBBI, where I post the videos/podcasts that I record here
