FIFA Club World Cup 2025: Day 26 - Prediction (GIBBI’s Editorial Staff)
PSG vs Real Madrid, today at 15:00 ET on MetLife Stadium (East Rutherford, New Jersey)
In Quaterfinals, PSG defeated Bayern 2-0 in regular time and Real Madrid defeated Borussia Dortmund 3-2 in regular time
My Prediction:
PSG win by 1 goal and advance to Final
GIBBI View: Chelsea qualified to Final when yesterday defeated Fluminense 2-0; PSG is the favorite team to win this tournament because they’ve been the best team in 2024-2025 season where they won the Champions League, but you can’t never bet Real Madrid and less in a semifinal game, where I think that the winner of this game will win the tournament
OneText Raises $4.5M From Y Combinator, Khosla (Tech Crunch)
One such company is OneText, which is building what it calls a “text-to-buy network,” that lets shoppers complete purchases via text message. OneText views itself as a competitor to the SMS marketing companies known for mass, impersonal messaging and spammy links
The company, founded by former PayPal employees, just closed a $4.5 million seed round backed by Khosla Ventures, Coatue, Citi Ventures, Y Combinator, Good Friends, and Matt Bellamy
By using SMS, OneText doesn’t require a merchant to replace their website’s existing checkout. While large platforms like Instagram and WhatsApp also have ecommerce features, Fudem believes brands still need direct, ownable relationships with their customers
GIBBI View: Talking about this topic, remember that I’ve applied 8 times to a YC batch but unfortunately I’ve not been selected yet, so YC Fall 2025 will take place from October to December in San Francisco and I have until August 04 to apply to this next batch, so I’m thinking with which business idea/startup (GIBBI Super App, GIBBI Speak, GIBBI Media Company, GIBBI Carsharing) I’m going to apply again (remember that I’m going to announce here if I apply to a yc batch)
Waymo Offers Teen Accounts For Driverless Rides (The Verge)
Waymo is opening up its robotaxi service to younger riders with the launch of teen accounts in Phoenix. Teenagers aged 14–17 can now sign up for an account on Waymo One, the company’s ridehail service
Waymo has been testing teen accounts with a select group of riders for months now, and is now rolling it out to the broader Phoenix area. The company didn’t say if or when it plans on rolling out the service in its other markets
The company says the data proves that its self-driving cars are better at avoiding crashes and injuries than human drivers. But younger riders could be less adept at navigating certain situations than adults — which makes its remote operators even more important
GIBBI View: Remember that in the end of last year and in the beginning of this year, I started to work in a business idea that I called it GIBBI Carsharing, a customer to customer carsharing company, but I decided to stop it because I didn’t have the enough resources, skills and time to develop it, so let’s see if in the future I can rework in that and make it
New York Knicks Hire Mike Brown As New Head Coach (CNN)
The New York Knicks have confirmed the hiring of Mike Brown as the team’s new head coach
Brown, a two-time NBA Coach of the Year, replaces Tom Thibodeau, who was fired by the Knicks last month after guiding the franchise to its deepest playoff run in 25 years
The 55-year-old Brown was surprisingly fired by the Sacramento Kings in December, just months after he had signed a contract extension
GIBBI View: I think that next season (2025-2026) Knicks have a lot of opportunities to win Eastern Conference and play in 2026 NBA Finals, because Celtics & Pacers got their top players (Tatum, Haliburton) injuried in playoffs and they’ll out all the next season, so Brown has a BIG opportunity to lead this team to NBA Finals
Jack Dorsey Launches a WhatsApp Messaging Rival Built on Bluetooth (CNBC)
Block CEO Jack Dorsey spent the weekend building Bitchat, a new decentralized, peer-to-peer messaging app that works entirely over Bluetooth mesh networks, with no internet, central servers, phone numbers or emails required
In a post on X Sunday, Dorsey called it a personal experiment in “bluetooth mesh networks, relays and store and forward models, message encryption models, and a few other things”
Bitchat enables ephemeral, encrypted communication between nearby devices. As users move through physical space, their phones form local Bluetooth clusters and pass messages from device to device, allowing them to reach peers beyond standard range — even without Wi-Fi or cell service
GIBBI View: Well, this new app could be used in situations where you don’t have data in your cellphone, you work in the office or when there are protests and the goverment cut the wifi/internet, but I think that this app could be easy to be hacked
