Meta leaks its new Smart Glasses with a display
The US & China might finally have a TikTok deal
UEFA Champions League - League Phase: Matchday 1 - Predictions
Divergent raises $290 Million (TechCrunch)
Amid an ongoing surge in defense tech investing, advanced manufacturing company Divergent Technologies raised $290 million to expand production of missile parts and other specialized components for the military
The round, which values the company at $2.3 billion, was first reported by Bloomberg. Divergent’s customers include major defense primes Lockheed Martin, RTX, and General Dynamics
The new capital, of which $40 million is debt, will help the company expand its manufacturing facilities in Los Angeles and to break ground on a new factory in Oklahoma next year
GIBBI View: Something that I’ve learnt is that the US military is a good customer for big US startups, so maybe I could create a startup that its main customers could be the US army/navy, so let’s see if I can write a business idea about that and try to develop it
US Open set attendance record (Front Office Sports)
The U.S. Tennis Association said Monday that the final attendance for the tournament was 1.14 million, a new record and 9% higher than last year’s total of 1.049 million. As was the case last year, the 2025 number is inclusive of both preliminary competition and the main draw
The 15 days of the main US Open draw, expanded by a day this year in a move unpopular among players, had an attendance of 905,255, also up 9% from last year. The preceding fan week drew a record 239,307, up 10% and boosted in part by a reimagined mixed doubles championship
ESPN, meanwhile, reported banner numbers last week of its own for coverage of the US Open. The men’s final between Alcaraz and Sinner averaged 3 million viewers, an 82% surge from last year’s final and the best number for that event since 2015. The women’s final, won by Aryna Sabalenka on Saturday, averaged 2.4 million viewers, up 50% from 2024
GIBBI View: Remember that Alcaraz won 2025 US Open title, his second US Open title and 6th grand slam title; and Sabalenka won a back to back US Open title and her 4th grand slam title
Meta leaks its new Smart Glasses with a display (The Verge)
An unlisted and now-removed video from Meta showed off a new pair of Ray-Ban branded smart glasses with a display and a wristband to help control them
For the glasses with a display, the video includes branding that says “Meta | Ray-Ban” and “Display,” so perhaps Meta will call them the Meta Ray-Ban Display
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg will be hosting a Connect keynote at 8PM ET on Wednesday, where it seems like these new glasses will make their official debut
GIBBI View: Meta has been very “bullish” in the Smart Glasses field, where in this moment they’re leading this field and I think that Smart Glasses will become the next Smart Phone in the next 5 to 10 years from now; this year Meta has been very actived, where Meta made partnership with Hypernova and Oakley, rolled out live translations to all Ray-Ban smart glasses users, and plan to open more retail stores this year
The US & China might finally have a TikTok deal (The Verge)
The US and China have reached a “framework” deal to divest TikTok from its Chinese parent company, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent told reporters during trade talks in Madrid on Monday
Scott Bessent said Trump will confirm the deal with Chinese President Xi Jinping on Friday, two days after the latest deadline to sell or ban the app
Bessent told reporters that the US and China are “very close” to reaching a deal, but that China had some “very aggressive asks,” according to The New York Times. (The parties were close to a deal earlier this year too, but it fell through thanks to Trump’s trade war)
GIBBI View: Trump has granted TikTok three extensions this year (one in january, the second in april and third in july), where deadline will be tomorrow but this reports says that the tiktok deal will be announced this friday, so let’s see what’ll happen
