Instagram reaches 3B users (Social Media Today)
Instagram has become Meta’s third 3 billion user app, with Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg announcing that IG is the latest to cross the record-setting user mark
Both Zuckerberg and Instagram chief Adam Mosseri have made announcements about the milestone, which once again re-establishes Meta as the king of the heap in social media apps, with Facebook, WhatsApp and now Instagram clearly leading the way in overall usage
First off, IG is testing a new feature that will highlight the topics that you’ve been engaging with within Reels, which you’ll then be able to edit to indicate what you want to see more or less of
GIBBI View: It looks that Instagram is the best Meta’s app, where most of the people use it in this moment and left Facebook in second place; about me, the only social media platform that I use is X because I don’t like any of Meta’s apps or another social platform
NFL highest-paid coaches 2025 (Sportico)
This year’s cutoff for the top 10 is $13 million, up from the 2024 cutoff of $9 million; half of the league’s coaches are now making $10 million, after a series of new hires and extensions, based on conversations with a half-dozen people familiar with NFL coaching contracts
There were seven new coaches to start the 2025 season, the same as last year, as well as matching the historical average, with 35 changes in the five years before that. The NFL is the richest sports league in the world, with league revenue of $23 billion and the average team worth $7.13 billion
Top 5 highest-paid NFL coaches:
Andy Reid - $20 Million
Sean Payton - $18 Million
John Harbaugh - $17 Million
Mike Tomlin - $16 Million
Jim Harbaugh - $16 Million
GIBBI View: About the top 5, Andy Reid is the only head coach that has won multiple Super Bowls rings and he’s the best opportunity to win another trophy in a lapse of 5 years from now; now that NFL teams are increasing their valuations every year, it’s obvious that the salary of players and head coaches is going to increase
Inside FanDuel’s $50B Playbook (Huddle Up)
Flutter Entertainment’s origins date back to 1988, with the founding of Paddy Power through the merger of three Irish bookmakers: Stewart Kenny, David Power, and John Corcoran. The business later merged with Betfair in 2016 and eventually acquired the leading U.S. daily fantasy sports operator, FanDuel, after the repeal of PASPA in 2018
Flutter now operates through two divisions: 1) FanDuel for its businesses in North America and 2) Flutter International for its businesses across the rest of the world. In total, Flutter hosts various games (sports betting, casino, poker, etc.) in 100+ countries, including the U.S., U.K., Ireland, Australia, parts of Europe and Africa, and Brazil
Similar to other sportsbooks, Flutter generates most of its revenue from sports betting, daily fantasy sports (DFS), and online casino games (iGaming). However, Flutter also has a horse racing business (TVG/FanDuel Racing), a media business (FanDuel TV), and a B2B data group that builds proprietary gambling technology
GIBBI View: Grupo Caliente is the company that is leading the sportsbook field in México, where Grupo Caliente is one of the biggest sponsors in Liga MX (the biggest soccer tournament in the country)
Electronics Arts will reportedly be acquired for $50B (TechCrunch)
The video game company Electronic Arts is nearing a $50 billion sale to a group of investors including Silver Lake and Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, according to a report from The Wall Street Journal
EA is best known for its annual sports titles in franchises like Madden NFL, FIFA, and NBA Live, as well as video game series like The Sims, Battlefield, Need for Speed, and Star Wars
According to the Journal’s report, this deal could be the largest leveraged buyout in history, meaning that the deal is mostly funded with debt
GIBBI View: EA will become public but I still don’t understand if EA’s investors & founder will still control the company after the sale or EA will be sold to these new group investors?
Rio de Janeiro to host NFL regular-season game in 2026 (NFL)
The National Football League today announced a multiyear commitment to play a minimum of three regular-season games over five years in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil beginning in 2026, as the NFL prioritizes global expansion and takes its international games to new cities around the world
With more than 36 million NFL fans across the country, the league will again return to Brazil in 2026 to play its first regular-season game in Rio at Maracanã Stadium
“We are delighted to announce that Maracanã Stadium will host a regular-season NFL game next year in Rio de Janeiro,” said Governor of the State of Rio de Janeiro Cláudio Castro
GIBBI View: Brazil has hosted 2 NFL games, this year and last year where the games where played in Sao Paolo but next year it’s going to be played the third game in Rio de Janeiro (Maracana); so about México, the next year NFL is going to play a game in the country?, because Azteca Stadium will be ready in the beginning of next year for the FIFA World Cup 2026, we’ll see it
