Tom Brady Backs Another Crypto Company (Front Office Sports)
The legendary quarterback turned Fox NFL broadcaster is among the investors pouring $18 million into Catena Labs, which aims to “establish the first fully regulated AI-native financial institution” to serve what is known as the “agentic commerce” marketplace, according to an announcement last week
“Agentic commerce” refers to the way those in the tech world believe online shopping will evolve thanks to artificial intelligence. The expectation is that AI agents (chat bots) will do more than follow commands; they will act based on goals a consumer has set
Catena aims to develop a “new generation of financial services for the agent economy, including leveraging AI-native money—regulated stablecoins—while also creating essential bridges to traditional banking rails and payment systems”
GIBBI View: Remember is the second crypto company that Brady invests, because Brady had invested in FTX in the past but it wasn’t a great investment (lost money and bad reputation), so it looks like that Catena Labs is a great startup and it’s going to be a useful company in the future
CoComelon Is Headed To Disney Plus In 2027 (The Verge)
Disney Plus will become the new home of CoComelon outside of YouTube starting in 2027, according to Bloomberg. All eight seasons will move over from Netflix, which has hosted the absurdly popular kids show since 2020
CoComelon, essentially a series of mind-numbingly plotless, CG-animated vignettes set to karaoke-quality nursery rhymes, is a giant in the world of programming for children, having accounted for 601 million Netflix views in 2023. According to Bloomberg, it was the second most-streamed show on the platform last year
CoComelon views fell by “almost 60% over the last couple of years,” and that compared to all of streaming, it went from the fifth most-watched show in 2023 to not even breaking the top 10 last year
GIBBI View: This one of the goals that I have in my life, where I want that my content can become famous and I can start to generate revenues, and maybe one of big media companies can pay me to upload my content in one of their platforms; by the way, you can visit my youtube channel GIBBI
RedBird To Buy The UK’s Telegraph For $500 Million (Pitch Book)
New York-based RedBird Capital Partners has agreed to buy The Telegraph Media Group in a deal that values the British newspaper publisher at £500 million (around $675.7 million), with plans to grow the 170-year-old brand’s US footprint
The new owner says it is planning new content verticals to help grow the publisher’s international subscribers and will also invest in its digital operations, including AI, to drive subscriptions
RedBird will become the sole control owner, acquiring its stake from RedBird IMI, a joint venture with International Media Investments, UAE Vice President and Deputy Prime Minister Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s investment holding company
GIBBI View: Another of my goal is to create me own Media Company where I want to write and talk about Businesses and Sports, so for that reason I’m creating content here in my blog to get subscribers and start to generate revenues, so let’s see what happens next
Real Madrid Announce Xabi Alonso As New Head Coach (Marca)
Real Madrid has made official the appointment of Xabi Alonso as the new first team coach for the next three seasons
After several months of conversations and doubts about the future of Carlo Ancelotti, the club has finally opted for a new project and a figure who combines tactical knowledge, international experience and a deep link with the institution
Xabi Alonso arrives in the Santiago Bernabeu dugout after a brilliant spell in charge of Bayer Leverkusen, where he revolutionised the German team with modern, versatile and highly competitive football
GIBBI View: Remember that two weeks ago, Real Madrid announced that Carlo Ancelotti would leave the team and will sign with Brazil National Team after that bad performance this season; Xabi Alonso had the opportunity to become Bayern Münich head coach last summer but he rejected the offer because he was waiting for Real Madrid offer
OnlyFans In Talks To Sell The Site In Deal Worth $8 Billion (VARIETY)
OnlyFans owner Leonid Radvinsky has engaged in discussions to sell the massive porn-centric content creator site at a price tag that would value the company at around $8 billion, Variety has confirmed
Radvinsky is in talks to sell OnlyFans to an investor group led by Forest Road Co., an L.A.-based investment firm that has interests in the media and entertainment biz, at an $8 billion valuation, a source familiar with the situation said
Radvinsky is the sole shareholder of Fenix International, the London-based company that owns OnlyFans. From 2021-23, Radvinsky collected more than $1 billion in dividend payments from Fenix, according to U.K. regulatory filings
GIBBI View: It looks like that Leonid is going to sell OnlyFans after having problems to finding a buyer for the kind of the company, but it looks that he’s going to receive more than what he wants because according to reports he wants more than $1.5 billion and Forest Road Co. is offering him around $8 billion, so I think that in the next week we’ll hear more about the Only Fan’s sale
