GIBBI, Today
In this newsletter I write the 5 most important news that I read in the day about businesses, finances and sports in México and in the World.
Stories:

Gold Cup 2025: Surinam vs México (GIBBI’s Editorial Staff)
Tonight at 22:00 ET on AT&T Stadium (Arlington, Texas)
In Fixture #1, México defeated Dominican Republic 3-2 and Surinam lost against Costa Rica 3-4
My Prediction:
México win b 2+ goals and qualify to quaterfinals
GIBBI View: México need to win this game to clinch a spot in quaterfinals, and Surinam need to win this game to avoid elimination and have possibilities to qualify in last game
OpenAI Wins $200 Million U.S. Defense Contract (CNBC)
OpenAI has been awarded a $200 million contract to provide the U.S. Defense Department with artificial intelligence tools
“Under this award, the performer will develop prototype frontier AI capabilities to address critical national security challenges in both warfighting and enterprise domains,” the Defense Department said. It’s the first contract with OpenAI listed on the Department of Defense’s website
OpenAI said the contract represents the first arrangement in a new initiative named OpenAI for Government, which includes the existing ChatGPT Gov product. OpenAI for Government will give U.S. government bodies access custom AI models for national security, support and product roadmap information
GIBBI View: U.S. Defense has decided to make contracts with several startup/big tech companies in the last months, where Anduril & Meta joined forced and received contracts form U.S. Defense, and Antrophic, Palantir and Amazon did the same and received contracts from U.S. Defense
PGA Tour New CEO Is Brian Rolapp, Former NFL Executive (The Hollywood Reporter)
The man who helped orchestrate the NFL’s media domination over the past few decades is officially joining the PGA Tour as its new CEO
Brian Rolapp, who was most recently chief media and business officer for the NFL, will become CEO of PGA Tour, Inc. and PGA Tour Enterprises later this summer, overseeing pro golf at a critical moment for the sport
A PGA Tour CEO search committee, led by Arthur M. Blank, Tiger Woods, Adam Scott, Jay Monahan, Joe Gorder and Sam Kennedy, says that it settled on Rolapp because he “is a seasoned sports and media executive who has the specific skill set necessary to build on the Tour’s momentum…”
GIBBI View: Brian Rolapp was the responsible that NFL had signed these billionaire TV rights that have made that NFL has increased its revenues and valuation, and Rolapp was the favorite executive to become the next NFL Commissioner when Roger Goodell leave the position but it looks that Rolapp was tired to wait
Real Madrid, Man City Make Their Debut In Club World Cup (GIBBI’s Editorial Staff)
Group H: Real Madrid vs Al-Hilal, today at 15:00 ET on Hard Rock Stadium (Miami, Florida)
Group G: Man City vs Wydad AC, today at 12:00 ET on Lincoln Financial Field (Philadelphia, P.A.)
Both teams are the favorite to win this tournament, alongside PSG and Bayern that played their first game of the tournament and won it
GIBBI View: I think that Real Madrid and Man City won’t have any problem and will win their games for 2+ goals each one; also today will finish the games of fixture #1 and tomorrow will start the games of fixture #2
TikTok Says In-Streaming Shopping Has Increased 120% This Year (Social Media Today)
According to TikTok, Americans, in particular, are warming to its TikTok Shop offerings, as it continues to promote its in-app buying options to its billion-plus users
TikTok says that womenswear, beauty & personal care, health, sports & outdoors, and electronics are the top sales categories in the app, with TikTok shopping now available in even more regions
Those are some impressive numbers, while TikTok also claims that:
Brands and creators have hosted over 8 million hours of LIVE shopping sessions in the U.S.
171,000 local and small businesses are now operating TikTok Shops
76% of consumers who’ve engaged with TikTok Shop bought something from a livestream in the past year.
Sales to small U.S. businesses in the app have grown by 70% year-over-year
GIBBI View: What TikTok is trying to do is to create its own SuperApp, where there in Asia, especially in China, the SuperApp are very popular and now BIG Tech Companies like X, OpenAI, META, etc, are trying to create their own SuperApp
