Meta launches global AI Translations (Tech Crunch)
Meta is rolling out an AI-powered voice translation feature to all users on Facebook and Instagram globally, the company announced on Tuesday
The new feature, which is available in any market where Meta AI is available, allows creators to translate content into other languages so it can be viewed by a broader audience
At launch, the feature supports translations from English to Spanish and vice versa, with more languages to be added over time. These AI translations are available to Facebook creators with 1,000 or more followers and all public Instagram accounts globally, where Meta AI is offered
GIBBI View: This is a great feature that Meta is implementing, where I think that it’d be better if this can be in real time; by the way, I’m working in create an AI Translate App (GIBBI Speak) to eliminate languages barriers and conect the people
Halo launches “always on” AI Smart Glasses (Tech Crunch)
Two former Harvard students are launching a pair of “always-on” AI-powered smart glasses that listen to, record, and transcribe every conversation and then display relevant information to the wearer in real time
“Our goal is to make glasses that make you super intelligent the moment you put them on,” said AnhPhu Nguyen, co-founder of Halo, a startup that’s developing the technology
Ardayfio and Nguyen have raised $1 million to develop the glasses, led by Pillar VC, with support from Soma Capital, Village Global, and Morningside Venture. The glasses will be priced at $249 and will be available for preorder starting Wednesday. Ardayfio called the glasses “the first real step towards vibe thinking”
GIBBI View: I think that AI smart glasses will become the next smartphones and this will be implemented in 5+ years from now; in this newsletter, I’ve written that big tech like Meta, Apple, Google, Snap and Alibaba are investing heavily in this field, where Meta is leading the AI Smart Glasses race
Alibaba to spin off its Banma Company via an IPO (South China Morning Post)
Alibaba Group Holding plans to spin off its Banma Network Technology unit through an initial public offering (IPO), as one of China’s largest technology behemoths moves ahead with a separate listing for its autonomous driving unit to raise capital
Alibaba has received an initial go-ahead from the Hong Kong stock exchange for the proposed spin-off, the company said in a statement on Thursday. The stake held by the Hangzhou-based conglomerate in Banma will drop to 30 per cent from the current 44.72 per cent after the IPO, Alibaba said
It plans to use the proceeds of the IPO for research and development, expanding market share in China and the global market, business acquisition plans and general corporate purposes
GIBBI View: Here you can see that Alibaba is a SuperApp where it has several divisions/apps and it’s trying to spin off Banma to offer a better product to its investors; and about Banma, remember that I have an idea to create a Carsharing App but now I’m seeing that the autonomous vehicles are going to dominate this field
Microsoft and NFL announce multiyear partnership (CNBC)
Microsoft and the NFL announced on Wednesday that they’re extending their partnership to bring real-time game data and analysis to coaches and players using Microsoft Copilot and Azure artificial intelligence
The multiyear partnership will upgrade the NFL’s sideline viewing system by equipping 32 teams with more than 2,500 custom-built Microsoft Surface Copilot tablets to enhance data collection during game days
Microsoft said Wednesday that clubs will soon be able to use AI for drafts outside of the NFL Combine, as well as for productivity across all business functions, including finance, human resources and events
GIBBI View: In this moment I’ve an idea in mind to create a product that I can sell to any american sport league (NFL, NBA, MLB, MLS) and try to make a living (and become rich), so let’s see if I can write an article about this idea in the weekend
