Luka Modric To Leave Real Madrid After Club World Cup (BBC)
Real Madrid captain Luka Modric has revealed he will leave the Spanish giants after the end of their Fifa Club World Cup campaign this summer
Modric captained Real to two trophies in his final season to take his haul to 28 titles, overtaking Nacho Fernandez as the club's most successful player.
His tally includes the six Champions Leagues, six Fifa Club World Cups, five European Super Cups, four La Liga titles, two Copa del Rey triumphs and five Spanish Super Cups during his 13 seasons at Real
GIBBI View: What a player has been Luka Modric in this time playing with Real, because I remember when Real signed Modric I thought that this was an error and Lukas wasn’t going to last more than 2 season in the team but he changed the mind of all his doubters; also, it looks that it affected a lot that Barcelona had won the “doblete” (LaLiga, Spanish Cup) and that Real Madrid was eliminated in quaterfinals in Champions League
OpenAI Teams Up With Cisco, Oracle To Build UAE Data Center (Tech Crunch)
As rumored, OpenAI is expanding its ambitious Stargate data center project to the Middle East
On Thursday, the company announced Stargate UAE, which will bring a 1GW data center cluster to Abu Dhabi. OpenAI expects 200MW will go live in 2026, developed with partners including G42, Oracle, Nvidia, Cisco, and SoftBank
In a blog post, OpenAI claims that Stargate UAE has the potential to provide AI infrastructure and compute capacity within a 2,000-mile radius
GIBBI View: Remember that last january, OpenAI did team up with SoftBank and Oracle to create Stargate, data center project, where the three companies are going to invest $500 billion in the next four years (in this moment, the companies have committed $100 billion to the project)
French Open Raises Purse To Record $63.7M, $2.9M First-Place Prize (Front Office Sports)
The total purse at Roland-Garros is worth about $63.7 million (€56.35 million), a 5.21% increase from last year. The first-place prize for the men’s and women’s singles winners is up to $2.9 million (€2.55 million), about $170,000 more than last year
The French Open has seen an increase in its prize money for four consecutive years following a 10% dip between 2020 and 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This year’s purse is about 64% more than the 2021 purse ($38.9 million)
The Roland-Garros purse is normally third among the four Grand Slams in terms of prize money, and that will likely remain the same this year. The Australian Open purse in January was about $60 million, while the 2024 purses of Wimbledon (about $66.1 million) and the US Open ($75 million) were higher than this year’s French Open purse
GIBBI View: Carlos Alcaraz won 2024 Roland Garros and is the favorite tennis player to win 2025 Roland Garros, where Jannik Sinner (2025 Australian Open winner) and Novak Djokovic (24th Grand Slam titles) will want to avoid that Alcaraz can win a back to back title; I think that the final will be between Sinner vs Alcaraz and Alcaraz will win back to back titles
Investor Julia Koch Looking To Buy Minority Stake In New York Giants (CNBC)
Investor Julia Koch is looking into buying a limited partnership in the NFL’s New York Giants, a person familiar with the matter confirmed to CNBC
About a year ago, Koch bought a 15% stake in BSE Global, the parent company of the NBA’s Brooklyn Nets, WNBA’s New York Liberty, and Barclays Center. That stake had a $6 billion valuation, according to a person familiar with the terms of the sale
Others have been mentioned as possible investors in the Giants, including the team’s former quarterback Eli Manning, who told CNBC he’d be interested in investing in the team. It has also been reported that former Milwaukee Bucks owner Marc Lasry and former Giants great Michael Strahan were interested in buying a piece of the Giants
GIBBI View: Remember that since 2024 fall, NFL allowed that some private firms could invest in NFL Teams, so teams like Philadelphia Eagles, Buffalo Bill, Miami Dolphins and San Francisco 49ers have sold minority stakes to private firms since 2024 Fall (to get liquidity and use the money to improve the team’s facilities)
Jony Ive’s AI Gagdet Rumored To Be “Slightly Larger” Than Humane’s AI Pin (The Verge)
Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo says his research indicates that the device could be larger than Humane’s AI pin, but with a “form factor as compact and elegant as an iPod Shuffle”
Kuo adds that “one of the intended use cases” is wearing the device around your neck. It also may not come with a display, Kuo says, featuring just built-in cameras and microphones for “environmental detection.” The device could also connect to smartphones and PCs to use their computing and display capabilities
On Wednesday, Altman revealed that OpenAI is buying Ive’s AI hardware company, io, for $6.5 billion, which will “take over design for all of OpenAI, including its software.” Ive and Altman are aiming to launch their first devices in 2026
GIBBI View: I think that this new AI Gadget could be the smartphone of the future and it could replace smartphones, but I’m very concern about my privacy and security of my data because I don’t trust OpenAI nor Sam Altman; I think that these AI Gadgets and the Smart Glasses that Meta, Apple and Google are developing will compete to replace the Smartphones in the next 5 to 10 years from now
