Super Cup 2025 - Prediction (GIBBI’s Editorial Staff)
PSG vs Tottenham, today at 15:00 ET on Bluenergy Stadium (Udine UD, Italy)
PSG is the UEFA Champions League champion team, where last may PSG defeated Inter 5-0 in Final, and PSG won its first Champions League title in its history
Tottenham is the UEFA Europa League champion team, where last may Tottenham defeated Man United 1-0 in Final, and Tottenham won its third Europa League title (1972, 1984, 2025) and first title won since 2008 (Carabao Cup)
GIBBI View: This game represents the beginning of 2025-2026 football season, where this friday will start Premier League and Ligue 1, where Tottenham will fight to finish in Conference League or Europa League positions, and PSG is the reining champion team in its domestic league & champions league and will want to repeat both titles; My Prediction: One month ago, PSG lost FIFA Club World Cup against Chelsea, where this will be a disadvantage for the team, so I think that PSG win the game by 2 goal difference
Perplexity offers to buy Google Chrome for $34.5 Billion (CNBC)
Artificial intelligence startup Perplexity AI has made an unsolicited $34.5 billion bid for Google’s Chrome browser, CNBC confirmed on Tuesday
That figure is higher than Perplexity’s current valuation, but the company said several investors have agreed to back the deal. In July, Perplexity was valued at $18 billion as part of an extension that valued the company at $14 billion months earlier
Perpexity’s bid comes after the U.S. Department of Justice proposed Google divest Chrome as part of the antitrust suit the company lost last year. The judge in the case ruled that Google has held an illegal monopoly in its core market of internet search
GIBBI View: Remember that last january Perplexity AI submmited a bid to merge with TikTok but ByteDance, TikTok’s partner, decided to say no; I think that Google will have to divest Chrome in the future and Chrome will loss its dominance in search engine but this will take more than 5 years from now
Uber Freight CEO Lior Ron leaves to join Waabi as COO (Tech Crunch)
Self-driving truck maker Waabi has hired autonomous vehicle industry veteran and Uber Freight CEO Lior Ron to step in as chief operating officer, as the startup looks to scale its commercial operations ahead of its planned launch of driverless trucks on public highways later this year
Uber Freight is a digital marketplace connecting shippers with carriers, and the company aims to integrate self-driving trucks with the platform via partnerships with startups like Aurora Innovation and Waabi. Uber’s partnership with Waabi isn’t affected by Ron’s departure, he said
Waabi has managed to launch commercial pilots quickly because it does most training, testing, and validation in Waabi World, its closed-loop simulator that both virtually tests the self-driving software and teaches it in real time
GIBBI View: Remember that in the beginning of the year I was working in my startup GIBBI Carsharing, a carsharing company that wants to connect people that need to rent their car to people that need to rent a car; so I stopped to work for lack of experience and time, but seeing that a lot of people are working or creating this kind of startups, so maybe I can restart to work in this startup, let’s see
Wyc Grousbeck won’t continue as Lead Celtics Governor after sale (Front Officce Sports)
When news broke in March that Wyc Grousbeck was selling the Celtics to Bill Chisholm and a group of private-equity investors for $6.1 billion, Grousbeck’s stated plan was to remain as governor of the team until 2028
Grousbeck will not stay on as lead team governor once the agreement is completed. The two sides originally said he would stay through the 2027–28 season in the March press release announcing the deal. Chisholm will assume the role of team governor years earlier than initially planned
The agreement, which set a record for the largest pro sports franchise sale in history that was quickly broken by the sale of the Lakers to Mark Walter at a $10 billion valuation in June, has taken longer to obtain board approval than some other recent franchise sales
GIBBI View: Since 2023, Mavs, Hornets, Suns, Celtics and Lakers have been sold to new owners/investors and a record sales each one, where I think that it’s going to happen the same to Jeanie Buss where she won’t reamin governor of the Lakers as long as she thinks, the same that happened to Mark Cuban when he sold Mavs to Miriam Adelson
Aaron Rodgers-backed startup aims to be the IMDb for Pro Athletes (CNBC)
AthleteAgent [dot] com launched on Tuesday as a rebrand of the former Online Sports Database. The site was created to improve access to athletes, offering a more streamlined way for organizations to connect with them
The rebrand isn’t just about a new name. AthleteAgent [dot] com is also rolling out a subscription-based model, offering users full access to its growing database for $29.99 per month, or $199.99 per year
Rodgers is an original founder in the platform. He’s joined by a high-profile group of investors that includes legendary sports agent Scott Boras and the Google for Startups Cloud Program: Scale AI Tier, as well as private equity firms Solyco Capital, Prota Ventures, Bullock Capital and Pressplay Capital
GIBBI View: It’s great that Aaron Rodgers is investing his money in great companies, but what it matters is that he can be 100% focus in Steelers and plays his best football level to lead Steelers to playoffs next season, I doubt it but let’s see
