Uber will test using drones for Uber Eats deliveries in some U.S. markets by the end of this year, part of a new partnership with Israeli startup Flytrex. The partnership will also include a small investment in Flytrex, though Uber told Bloomberg News the investment amount was not material
The deal comes at a time when Uber has been re-engaging with some technologies that it used to develop in-house. Uber has been partnering with autonomous vehicle companies like Waymo to offer self-driving rides in cities like Atlanta, and it’s aiming to bring electric air taxis to its service in the next few years
Uber trialed using drones for some of its food deliveries all the way back in 2019. But the company never stuck with the idea due to regulatory limits on drones, and later sold its so-called “Elevate” aviation division to the air taxi company Joby

The Argentine soccer star and Inter Miami are finalizing a new multiyear contract, according to an ESPN report Wednesday night. The deal will require final approval by Major League Soccer
Messi signed with Inter Miami in mid-July 2023 on a two-and-a-half year deal. He was paid $20 million this year, far more than any other player in the league, and more than the payroll of most of its teams. The deal came after a failed superteam experiment with Paris Saint-Germain that paid him $36 million annually

Reddit, more than a year and a half after its first data-sharing deal with Google for a reported $60 million, is in talks for deeper integration with Google’s AI products, according to executives familiar with the discussions
Reddit also plans to discuss with Google and OpenAI, which has a similar agreement, a future deal structure that could allow for dynamic pricing, where the social platform can be paid more as it becomes more vital to AI answers, said the executives, who asked not to be named discussing private conversations
Reddit’s first data agreements with Google and OpenAI remain active. In January 2024, Reddit reached licensing agreements, including those two deals, that would generate $203 million in contract value with terms ranging from two to three years
GIBBI View: Reddit could take advantage of AI boom and try to develop its own AI search engine, because Reddit has a lot data with its subscribers/customers, and the difference with Google and Reddit is that Reddit has the specific questions that most people are searching, but this would make that Reddit could become a competitor against one of its partners like OpenAI
