Cruz Azul vs Toluca (GIBBI’s Editorial Staff)
Tonight at 21:05 ET on Olímpico Universitario Stadium (México City, México)
Cruz Azul is in 3rd place with 11 points (3-2-0 record)
Toluca is in 5th place with 10 points (3-1-1 record)
My Prediction:
Cruz Azul win by 1 goal difference
GIBBI View: Cruz Azul have 3 straigh victories, are undefeated and Piovi will stay for the rest of the tournament because Inter Miami couldn’t reach a deal with Cruz Azul; Toluca is the reining champion team but was eliminated in Leagues Cup: Quaterfinals this wednesday, where this was a failure and this can affect the chemistry of the team
Nuro closes $204 Million Series E financing (Yahoo Finance)
Nuro a leader in autonomous driving technology, yesterday announced the closing of a $203M Series E funding round at a $6B valuation. The round includes Uber, returning investor Baillie Gifford, and new investors Icehouse Ventures, Kindred Ventures, NVIDIA, and Pledge Ventures
The funding marks a major milestone in Nuro’s journey to bring self-driving technology to all roads and all rides. The new capital will enable the scaling of Nuro’s AI-first autonomous technology and the growth of its commercial partnerships
Nuro offers its advanced Nuro Driver™ autonomous driving system to automotive manufacturers and mobility providers, offering a clear and cost-effective path to integrate the company’s proven technology into commercial fleets, ride-hailing services, and personal vehicles
GIBBI View: Last month, I wrote here that Nuro made a partnership with Lucid and Uber to launch a next-generation robotaxi service; talking about ride-hailing services, remember that in the beginning of the year I was working in create a carsharing startup (customer to customer service) to connect people that have a car to rent-to people that need to rent a car
US Goverment plans to take a 10% stake in Intel (Tech Crunch)
The U.S. government plans to take a 10% stake in Intel, President Donald Trump told reporters Friday. Bloomberg was first to report the news, which pushed the semiconductor chip company’s stock up more than 7%. Trump said Intel has agreed to the proposal
The news comes during a pivotal, and recently volatile, time for Intel. CEO Lip-Bu Tan is currently restructuring the chipmaker, shuttering certain divisions and laying off workers in a bid to focus on its core businesses and catch up to rivals like Nvidia
The Intel deal, which is expected to be announced later Friday, comes days after the Japanese conglomerate SoftBank agreed to make a $2 billion investment in Intel. That deal was couched as a commitment to advanced technology and semiconductors in the U.S.
GIBBI View: The history has taught us that it’s always a bad idea when any goverment of any country try to manage a private companies, most of the times the private companies fail because the bad management; remember that the beginning of the month, Trump wanted that Lip Bu Tan resigned for a conflict of interest, but later Tan visited White House and made the “peace”
X publishes guide to NFL engagement and opportunities (Social Media Today)
With the 2025-26 NFL season kicking off in a few weeks, X has published a new guide to NFL engagement in the app, which could help brands tap into related discussion, and align their campaigns with key NFL moments
The 13-page guide includes a range of data notes and ad pointers to help in your approach. You can download the full guide for yourself here (with email sign-up), but in this post, we’ll take a look at some of the key notes
Sport, in general, is still the most discussed topic on X, despite Elon’s personal push into politics, while the app also remains a key connector for live events, with many established sports communities remaining embedded to the app through habitual behaviors
GIBBI View: Remember that NFL will start in 2 weeks and for third straight time I’m going to create content about that, so stay tune to this blog and my social media platforms (youtube, spotify) because I’m going to talk about my favorite team Steelers and what will happen every week until Super Bowl
MLB closes in on new media right deals with ESPN, NBC & Netflix (CNBC)
Major League Baseball is nearing a finalized agreement with Disney’s ESPN, Comcast’s NBC Sports and Netflix on a new three-year media rights deals for packages of live games
Under the terms currently being discussed, NBC would acquire all of the league’s Sunday night games and Wild Card playoff games for about $200 million per year, according to people familiar with the matter. Netflix will get the rights to the Home Run Derby for about $50 million a year, according to two people familiar with the deal
ESPN is getting a brand new package of rights for $550 million, according to people familiar with the matter. ESPN has roughly assigned about $450 million in value to license MLB TV, the league’s digital out-of-market package of games
GIBBI View: Remember that in the beginning of the year ESPN decided to opt out for its contract with MLB, but reading this news it looks that ESPN is going to continue broadcasting MLB but with less games; NBC bought NBA media rights and will broadcast NBA games for first time in 20 years; Netflix is focusing in buy specific games/events
